July 2020 – Sicily / Malta

So we finally left Licata after Covid Lock down and headed for Malta.  We plan not to travel too far due to the virus still being at large. The lock down for us in Licata was great as no one was allowedout and the marina was all ours to enjoy. Lovely, quiet and pieceful.

We had to get special permission to travel to Malta as they weren’t letting any English in but we sent loads of emails and finally got permission.

Malta was a 10 hour sail approx. and the first night we had to go into a marina to ensure everything was ok. Valetta is an amazing town with one of the best sea entrances of the trip. Everyone speaking English is a shock and English food every where. Yippee Worcestershire sauce and salad cream for me…

We met up with our good friends Juliet and David on Reflections whom have a boat similar to ours and have sailed the world for over 30 years. A truly amazing couple which non stop telling us amazing stories. A true inspiration to us. They also enjoy a good game a Bridge so we are now all players..

Its hot here, we go to lovely bays but end up sitting downstairs in the cool.

One story is that we anchored in a remote bay and during the day you would get many boats but by the evening they all leave and you are virtually on your own but when Saturday comes all the locals arrive and end up all staying the night. We counted over 110 boats, all rafted up, small and large, playing music. It was a great atmosphere. I ended up sleeping on deck enjoying it.
