Thanks Mike for letting us come with you on a canal holiday. Well it was fab. Even though it’s a boat, I don’t think there is much comparison with AF except being on water. The boat was some 60ft long and steered completely differently. The water ways were very narrow and very shallow. Running aground and trying to squeeze under bridges and not hitting things is the name of the game. It was more like a dodgems ride at the fair ground. On a few occasions you had to let your crew take a phone and walk ahead to let you know that the way was clear. The weather was very kind to us and we manage to get to the end of a canal to find that their was an international singing competition being held. The singing was like listening to angels. We arrived just in time to see the carnival parade. Tom Jones had performed the night before.
Travelling through tunnels and crossing large viaducts high above the tress really added to the experience and ticked off unique things to do in your life.
A big thank you again to Mike. We really enjoyed it and many hours of laughter was had.
